FANNY MENDELSSOHN (1805 - 1847), Felix’s adored older sister, who was told by her father: "Music will perhaps become Felix's profession, while for you it can and must be only an ornament”. And yet. Which actually was the more talented of the two? Here was a girl who could play the first book of preludes and fugues by heart by the time she was 14. Who composed just as her brother did, helped him and he always followed her advice. Except her works were always published under his name. They were still being mistaken as recently as 2010
