The Isidore String Quartet return to the Hudson Valley Chamber Music Circle at Bard College with a program with a special connection – the string quartet No. 2 by Joan Tower, written in memory of Margaret Creal Shafer the long-time artistic director of the series and her close friend. Herself professor at Bard for over 50 years now as well as being one of the world’s greatest living composers, Joan Tower talks with the quartet and Charlotte Wilson about the string quartet, teaching at Bard, her composing process and philosophy, and being sandwiched in between Haydn and Beethoven. Works by Joseph Haydn, Joan Tower, and Ludwig van Beethoven: 7pm, June 15, Fisher Center, Bard College
