Will Liverman at Tanglewood

Adam Ewing

Baritone Will Liverman is on a roll: hot on the heels of Malcolm X and winning a Grammy in 2023 for Terence Blanchard’s Fire Shut Up in My Bones at the Metropolitan Opera, he has a new song album out Show Me The Way, an opera Factotum that companies across the US are queuing up to perform, and makes his BBC Proms debut next month before returning to Dutch National Opera and a host of other engagements in Europe. He performs the Sibelius Origin of Fire at Tanglewood on Friday and talks to Charlotte Wilson about his musical passions, inspirations and singing in Finnish.

Will Liverman performs Sibelius: The Origin of Fire with Andris Nelsons, the Tanglewood Festival Chorus and Boston Symphony in the Koussevitzky celebration concert Friday July 26, 8pm at Tanglewood at the Music Shed.

Charlotte Wilson has been immersed in classical music all her life. Her parents were great music lovers, always had something playing on the radio or turntable, and she began on recorder and then piano before she can remember. Charlotte originally wanted to be a concert pianist but just didn’t quite have it, no matter how hard she practiced! She tried many other instruments slightly too late (violin, cello, clarinet) before discovering radio. Charlotte can be heard from 4-8pm weekdays and 10-2 on Saturdays.
