Mahler's First Symphony begins with a single note stretched out over 7 octaves— he said it was "like a sound of nature." Over 150 musicians from the RPI and ESYO Orchestras will join forces for Mahler's Titan and more in 2 performances, first at RPI’s EMPAC and then at the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall. We spoke with Dr Robert Whalen, the director of ensembles at RPI, and Etienne Abelin, the music director and conductor of ESYO, about those performances.
