The name Dobrinka Tabakova is one that you are going to be encountering more. Born in Bulgaria, resident in the UK since she was 11, she has been resident composer with some of the UK’s finest orchestras (BBC Concert Orchestra, the Halle) and now has three albums out: her debut String Paths of 2013, nominated for a Grammy: her orchestral Sun Triptych, which has just won the BBC Music Magazine Award; and now this, Stone Trail for piano and chamber music, strongly rooted in her native country and called “exciting and deeply moving” by the Washington Times.
